Our Environmental Policy
At Broadgate Farm we are committed to providing a good quality service whilst minimising the environmental impact of our activities.
An example of this commitment we achieved Gold membership of the Green Tourism Business Scheme.
We welcome support, participation, and suggestions from you our customers as to how we can improve our environmental policy and protect the environment and increase the enjoyment of your stay.
You will stay on a farm managed for wildlife in accommodation designed for sustainable tourism, we have a woodchip heating system, locally sourced materials and contractors and private water supply.
We work closely with the RSPB, and other conservation organisations to maintain and improve wildlife habitats on our land. In particular to increase wading bird to enhance biodiversity.

At Broadgate Farm B & B and CL Site we encourage guests to consider their environmental impact and where possible to.
- Compost green kitchen waste.
- Bottles, cans and paper are separated into separate bins.
- Use recycled paper products
- Support the local food producers / restaurants by recommendation
- Use environmentally friendly washing and cleaning products
- encourage them to follow the Sustainable Visitor code and to follow the Countryside Code.
- Make the most of local attractions and use the car as little as possible by providing a wide range of resources on site and on this website.
At Broadgate Farm where possible.
- We supply environmentally friendly washing products along with fair-trade/organic goods for our guests use.
- We use environmentally friendly washing and cleaning products and fair trade/ organic goods in our own daily routine where possible.
Batteries and printer cartridges are donated to Bleasdale School and other hazardous waste are taken to our local recycling facility.
We have recently re lagged the loft to improve insulation.
We facilitate Tramper use by providing a pick up point and drop off point for tramper hire and car parking for tramper users. We encourage sustainable tourism by provision for walkers and cyclists and offer extensive information on low impact activities.
To encourage awareness of the environmental sensitivity of the natural environment of The Forest of Bowland we have an extensive range of information produced by the RSPB, Forest of Bowland and other organisations and promote interpretive events and walks organised by such bodies.
We also sell Forest of Bowland Badges to support Champion Bowland.
We encourage our guests to follow the Forest of Bowland Sustainable Visitor Code and to follow the Countryside Code (PDF 268kb)
We have a No Smoking policy within the guest accommodation, with an allocated area on the garden patio for smoking. Small well behaved pets are allowed in the B & B accommodation, and a dog exercise area is provided for guest to use.
